Holocaust Memorial Day Ceremony 2026

This January for Holocaust Memorial Day 2026, two of our Year 12 history students were invited to City Hall to give speeches as part of the ceremony commemorating victims of the Holocaust. The event also provided time for reflection for those affected by more recent genocides.

Anisa and Mohamed from 12P both spoke passionately about the dangers of persecution, racism and persecution how this is relevant today. As ambassadors for the Holocaust Educational Trust they spoke with a survivor and visited Auschwitz Berkenau with fellow Clarion history students and shared what they have learnt.

The theme for this years memorial was 'Bridging the generations', asking us to engage with the past and learn the lessons of history. This event was in partnership with the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust.

The service gave platform to inspiring speakers to share their first-hand stories of survival and the legacy of persecution on families and communities.

The full service can be watched below.

In reflection of the event Mohamed shared his gratitude in taking part:

"Overall, it was an incredible experience and I'm really glad I was presented with the opportunity, let alone being able to seize it the way I did - if it wasn't for my teacher Ms Cherrih I definitely wouldn't have had such a fantastic opportunity."

Mohamed - 12P
